The Finishing Technician performs duties such as diagnosing issues and performing cosmetic repairs, inspecting defective parts, and performing quality control procedures. Finishers can even out dents and mistakes, apply the desired color or coating, and level top layers of exteriors. The fiberglass finisher is responsible for performing all phases of fiberglass and gel coat repair on assigned parts with minimal supervision. They must be able to use hand and power tools to grind, sand, and polish surfaces, as well as mix and apply gel coat and paint.

Work Hours: 7 am to 4 pm
Reports to: VP of Manufacturing
Location: 100% onsite

Essential Duties

Skilled at handling delicate materials and sensitive repairs with precision such as mending and restoring fiberglass as well as gel-coat damage.
Operate machinery and tools, such as grinders, sanders, waxing machines, and air hoses, to achieve a smooth mold finish, and perform routine maintenance as needed.
Read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, detailed blueprints, and other similar authorized drawings and documents, and be capable of doing basic math.
Follows all safety policies and procedures, and ensures that required documentation is complete and in compliance with regulations and standards.
Create, repair, and maintain fiberglass molds to produce high-quality tub components.
Follow established safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of injury or accidents and continuously improve production processes using the Kaizen philosophy.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure that all equipment and supplies are well-stocked, securely stored, and well-maintained for all team members.
Inspect work for the highest quality with attention to detail collaborating with team members to ensure molds are prepared on time and in accordance with schedules.
Understand and execute work orders in a timely and professional manner.
Operate in a high-speed production environment while maintaining a focus on quality.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and basic math and reading skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Safe operation of a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Preferred Requirements

Highly organized and self-motivated
Technical ability and problem-solving orientation
Prior experience in a manufacturing or mold preparation environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects for an extended period.
Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Repeat the same movements while wearing PPE the entire day.
Bend or twist their body and move and lift at least 50 pounds.
The employee spends most of the day on their feet and must follow strict safety rules.
They wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, hard-toe shoes, and Tyvek paint suits, as necessary.
